Platinum celebrations for Scottish logistics firm

Staff at Caledonian Logistics are in a triumphant mood after celebrating its 20th year in business.  Founded in 1999 by the now managing director, Derek Mitchell, Caledonian Logistics has grown significantly over the past two decades from a start-up to one that now employs more than 140 members of staff across three depots in Aberdeen, Cumbernauld and Inverness.

Commenting, Derek said: “Across the three depots we started off handling around 600 pallets per month but now move closer to 12,000. To date, we’ve handled more than one million pallets for Palletways. This is a huge milestone and over that time we’ve seen many changes within the industry including new electronic data and portal services. We’ve managed to overcome every challenge with the support of our members of staff and I’m excited to see what the next 20 years holds for everyone at Caledonian.”

Barry Byers, Palletways’ network development director, added: “To have been in business in this sector for this long is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the hard work of the entire team.”

Caledonian Logistics is a member of Palletways, the UK’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network.
